Frequently Asked Questions
How easy was it for you and your children to settle into life in Australia and into school?
We have all adapted really well. In particular we love the sunshine, the beaches, the amazingly friendly people, and the outdoor lifestyle. It takes a while to learn the new ways of doing things when you first arrive in a foreign country but it helps to have friends or people like us who can support you when you first arrive. In Australia schools often have a buddy system and they are used to new pupils and children are usually made very welcome.
What are the sports facilities like?
There’s a huge choice of sports here, and sport is encouraged at all levels and ages. In senior school in particular you can choose from a very wide range of sports- anything from fishing to ten pin bowling, beach volley ball, water polo , is encouraged. Sports facilities in towns and even smaller villages are generally good, and you often see children and people of all ages doing sport.
How long will it take to get a visa?
There are many types of visa and it is best to be patient and get good support from a registered agent. You really cannot hurry the government processing side of things! The length of time will depend on the type of visa, DIAC processing, and how quickly you can obtain the required paperwork.
How did you choose where to live in Australia?
There are lots of reasons people settle in different parts of Australia. Many people want to be near family or friends. Others want to work in a particular state, city, or industry. After travelling extensively and visiting all the major cities we liked different places for different reasons and found it hard to decide where to live! We decided eventually to live in SE Queensland as it has what we felt was the best all year round climate, and there’s a lot going on here for all the family.
What are your fees and how do we pay you?
We currently accept payment in Australian dollars and UK pounds by cheque or money transfer. All our fees are clearly explained in our service agreement. Once we have full details of your situation we can provide a quotation. Approximately 50% is payable when you sign and we begin the process of helping you obtain your visa, although we are open to discussing other payment options eg 4 equal payments or monthly payments so please ask if you need help in paying. The total is usually payable immediately before the visa application is submitted.
